Learn Chinese tea where it truly begins.
In April 2026, the International Chinese Tea Academy invites global tea lovers to Menghai, Yunnan — the heartland of Pu’er tea — for a 4-day immersive Chinese Tea Sommelier course, combining classroom study, tea mountain fieldwork, and industry visits.
This course is designed for international tea professionals and advanced tea enthusiasts who wish to deepen their understanding of Chinese tea culture, sensory evaluation, and cultural expression — beyond short-term tasting experiences.

Menghai is not a symbol — it is the living center of Pu’er tea history, production, and innovation.
From ancient tea mountains to modern tea enterprises, Menghai represents the full ecosystem of puerh tea.
By studying here, participants do not only learn about tea — they learn from the land, the people, and the system that sustains it.
Accommodation and classes will be arranged within Menghai County, ensuring convenient access to teaching venues, tea mountains, and local tea enterprises.
April 11–13 | Core Course (3 Days)
Classroom-based learning led by certified international tea instructors:
Chinese tea classification & processing logic
Pu’er tea (raw & ripe): terroir, aging, tasting structure
Tea sensory evaluation & professional vocabulary
Tea service, storytelling, and cross-cultural communication
How to present Chinese tea in international contexts

April 14 | Field Study Day
Visit to Hekai Ancient Tea Mountain and Lao Banzhang area (subject to conditions)
Hands-on learning in tea gardens
Evenings during the Training
Visit to Menghai tea enterprises for professional exchange

This program is ideal for:
International tea educators & trainers
Tea professionals working with Chinese tea
Cultural communicators and tea writers
Advanced tea lovers seeking structured, authentic learning
Participants planning to join the April 15–22 International Yunnan Tea Tour
While the 4-day course can be taken independently,
we strongly recommend joining the full tea journey for a complete understanding of Chinese tea culture in context.
A systematic understanding of Chinese tea from its origin
Professional tasting and descriptive skills
Cultural insight beyond books and tastings
Direct connection with Yunnan’s tea landscape and industry
Eligibility to continue advanced programs with the International Chinese Tea Academy
This is not a fast-track certification.
It is a long-term foundation for those who respect tea as a cultural practice, not a product.
Location: Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China
Dates: April 11–14, 2026
